An Indian housewife

When a Housewife Asked for Help…He Divorced Her

A few days ago, I heard a story about a couple that stayed with me.

They were newly married. Both had very good jobs. They were independent and well-educated And Yeah… when the couple is Indian, there’s an unspoken rule – even if the woman is a working professional, she is still a housewife too.

Both of them went to the office every day and came back home in the evening. After returning from work, his wife would cook for both of them, clean the house, and take care of all the small household chores. Just like any good housewife would do.

“The Day a Housewife Asked for help”

But after a few days, when she came back from the office, she started asking for a little help from her husband.

She would say, ‘If nothing else, at least help me a little with the housework. Just lend me a hand. After office, we can share the housework – you do some, I’ll do some……

She started asking him every day for help with household chores like washing the dishes. And then, just a few months later, their marriage ended in divorce.

You see, the husband liked that his wife earned well. He liked having a woman who could walk shoulder to shoulder with him in the outside world.

But the moment she came home from work and asked him to share a little, responsibility in the household….. He didn’t like it.

And just like that, the ‘modern husband’ decided to divorce his wife.

“And of course, the entire society blamed the girl. ‘Oh, it must be her fault,’ they said. ‘Who asks their husband – their pati parmeshwar – to do household work? Did she think her husband was her servant or something?”‘

“And the funny part? All of this was said by another housewife – and many other things like that”

Actually, I have a lot to say about this incident. But this time, I want you to tell me – what do you think this was?

What would you call this situation?

Today, I’m not going to finish this article… you will finish it…….
