After Watching ASSI Movie, I Couldn’t Stay Silent.
I finally watched ASSI movie.
You know, I had been avoiding this movie for
a long time…because after watching the
trailer, I just didn’t want to face the harsh
reality of Indian girl’s and women’s lives – our
reality.
I was scared that if I watched this movie, I
might start feeling afraid to step outside,
like fear would settle in my mind.
But running away from reality isn’t right.
So I finally watched ASSI movie.
“I can still hear the teacher’s voice in my ears
that the boy messaged in the group asking
why he wasn’t invited there, into the car.”
So many new schemes are being
introduced in India for women –
It’s honestly a lot. And I’m not saying that’s
wrong, no, it’s actually a good thing.
But somewhere, we forget that more
important than all these schemes is figuring
out how to stop the rapes that happen
every single day.
If we could just create even one effective
plan to end this, we wouldn’t need so many
other schemes at all.
This is the biggest fear – the very thing we
girls never want to face, never want to go
through… yet it’s what so many girls deal
with every single day.
Let’s not keep increasing our fear and pain
by only seeing and hearing such things…
But ignoring it would also be wrong,
especially for us girls, right?
So tell me – this really matters for us girls.
What should we do so that we can protect
ourselves on our own, instead of
depending on someone else to keep us safe?
Tell us what we should do – I’ll be waiting
for your suggestions for myself… and so
will our readers.
Share your stories or your suggestions –
something that can help other girls learn
and grow.
Your voice might be exactly what someone
else needs.
