Questions I Ask Myself Every Month During My periods

For the longest time, I kept asking myself –
Should women really get leave during periods
or not?

Because let’s be honest.

Some women say they feel absolutely normal
during their periods.
No severe cramps. No unbearable pain. They
go to work like any other day.

But then there are others –
Curled up in bed.
Holding their stomach.
Trying to survive waves of stabbing cramps.

So the question always confused me.

If some women don’t experience much pain..
And some experience severe pain…

Then how do we decide?

Who deserves leave?
Who doesn’t?
Who gets to prove their pain?

And honestly – how do you even measure
something so personal?

BUT today, I think I found my answer.

Whether leave should be given or not –
That is no longer my real question.

Because pain may differ.
Intensity may differ.
But discomfort?

Discomfort is not optional.

There is irritation.
There are mood swings.
There is bloating.
There is heaviness.
There is that silent exhaustion no one sees.

Even if someone doesn’t have “severe
cramps,” the body is still going through a
discomfortable process.
The uterus is shedding its lining.
Hormones are fluctuating.
Energy levels shift.

This period, I Got My Answer

Just because someone isn’t crying in pain
doesn’t mean their body isn’t hurting.

So maybe the debate shouldn’t be about who
deserves leave.
Maybe it should be about acknowledging that
periods are not effortless for anyone.

Chutti mile ya na mile –
That’s a policy discussion.

But discomfort?
That’s real….That’s biological.

And saying “period pain doesn’t happen to
everyone” might be technically correct –
But saying “periods don’t affect everyone”
would be dishonest.

Because they do.
In different ways.
At different intensities.
But they do.

And maybe that’s the part we need to accept
first.

And now I genuinely want to ask you –

What kind of period pain do you experience?
Is it the unbearable, cramp-curling kind?
Or the “no cramps but horrible discomfort”
kind that silently drains you?

And during your periods days, do you also
become a little emotional….like me?

Because today, I did.

Maybe that’s why I ended up posting
this little post.

I don’t even know why I wrote that. I just did.
